Have I ever told you about my love of hats?
I just love them and think they are the perfect accessory to any outfit. My favourite this autumn is the Fedora, a felt hat with a wide brim and indented crown, a classic if there ever was one.
The term fedora was in use as early as 1891. It was fashionable for women and was adopted as a symbol of the women’s rights movement. I love the fact they are edgy and have become widely associated with gangsters and Prohibition which coinsided with the height of the hat’s popularity in the 1920s to early 1950s. During the second half of the 1950s it fell out of favour and by the 21st century the fedora became a symbol of hipsters.
This beautiful and forever classic hat is a perfect fall staple. I have teamed it with a simple long sleeved grey top, denim skirt, tan tights, a faux suede black bag and quite possibly my favourite black over the knee flats ever. How will you wear yours?
